Alebrije Journals and Stationery

These Alebrije inspired illustrated journal covers and additional stationery materials represent the four seasons reflected in each set’s color palette as well as the time of day they represent. Alebrije are a form of Mexican folk art featuring brightly colored and patterned sculptures of animals. Spring is morning since Spring is the start of new life and morning is the start of a new day. Summer is day, with the heat of the sun beating down. Fall is evening since both represent the transition into night and winter. Night and winter both bring about sleep in living things before they come back to life in the Spring and morning. What began as a set of journals expanded to include extra stationery items.
